Artificial grass

Artificial grass is a modern synthetic pavement, made of polypropylene or nylon fibres. Pavements of artificial grass are designed for practicing sports disciplines e.g. volleyball, lawn tennis, handball, etc.

They are used on versatile sports fields, tennis courts, professional as well as recreational. Synthetic grass is used outside as well as inside.

The basic technical parameters are: pavement height (thickness) as well as density (number of fibres, placed in one pavement square meter).

Synthetic grass is produced in two basic colours: green and red, that is why it is possible to make two-colour system of pavements.

GretaSport has in its offer a wide range of synthetic grasses, what enables to the right selecting of pavement type in usable, technical and, what is the most important, financial respect.

GRETASPORT company offers synthetic grasses:

  • DESSO DLW (Belgium)
  • Peba (Turkey)
  • Unieco Green (Italy)
  • Condor Grass (Holland)
  • Tilia Sp.zoo (Poland)

All suggested pavements have a Certificate or conformity declaration with PN-EN 15330-1:2008 standard, ITB technical approval, or ITB technical recommendation, or test results of specialist laboratory, confirming parameters of offered pavement e.g. Labosport, or equivalent document as well as PZH hygienic parameters.

We also have grasses with FIFA1 and 2STAR certificates.

Gretasport has authorization for arrangement of synthetic grasses of above pavement system producers.

Foundation

For arrangement of synthetic grass there are used (depending on the use of sports field, conditions on a building site as well as client’s requirements) the following foundation types:

asphalt and concrete foundation – the safest type of ground for artificial grass, recommended by pavement producers.

Advantages: stability, long-term durability, resistance to changeable atmospheric conditions

Disadvantages: necessity of completely ideal arrangement of asphalt and concrete mat (without water stasises) with one-side slope being minimum 0,5%, application of sports field dehydration (superficial drainage).

concrete foundation

Advantages: lower in comparison with asphalt and concrete, cost of making foundation

Disadvantages: less elasticity and resistance to atmospheric conditions, necessity of foundation dilatation, necessity of very precise foundation arrangement (without water stasises), with one-side slope being minimum 0,5%, application of sports field dehydration (superficial drainage).

foundation of active concrete type

It is a modern and not expensive solution of foundation, based on technology of cavernous concrete. It combines in itself the features of hard foundation (stability, durability, resistance to changeable atmospheric conditions) with features of aggregate foundation (water permeability). Application of active concrete in foundation reduces cost of building or sports object modernization.

aggregate foundation

It makes up a cheap solution of foundation, water permeable, which is made by placing thickening layers of smaller and smaller stone aggregate. A very important thing with this type of foundation is getting a homogeneous, stable foundation of adequate concentration degree. Otherwise there is possibility of foundation falling in, and as a result also falling in of synthetic foundation. Stabilizing layer is being placed by machine.

Installation

Synthetic grass is a prefabricated element, delivered to the building site in rolls. Pavement installation takes place by laying it out on a prepared foundation as well as cutting to the required size. Then, adequately adjusted roll edges are joined by means of special assembly line that is covered by specialist polyurethane glue. The next activity is fixing and sticking in ground lines. The right pavement hardness and durability is received by grinding adequate amount of quartz sand or sand and granulated gum among grass blades (depending on the type of used synthetic material e.g. football grasses).

Safety

Synthetic grass is a pavement safe for a user, it ensures low incidence of traumas (regardless of used foundation type). It is the pavement of long life-time, however it requires periodic maintenance. Designing and then building a sports structure, it’s necessary to select a proper type of pavement, in accordance with use.
